Overview

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Teaching Portfolio Coach for the Rutgers Alternate Route Program specifically, in the following content areas:
Physical Education, High School, Mathematics K-12, ESL, and Performing Visual Arts. Responsibilities
  • Reviews teacher portfolios from Alternate Route Program candidates.
  • Scores documents and provides constructive feedback to help candidates prepare a complete professional portfolio demonstrating their teaching competency.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Three (3) years of recent/current experience as a teacher in the K12 setting.
Certifications & Licensure
  • NJ Standard Teaching Certification in Elementary Education (Grades K-6), Special Education and/or Secondary Content Area Education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Greater than 3 years of recent/current experience as a teacher in the K12 setting.
  • Competency using Microsoft Office Applications and/or Cloud based word processing applications.
  • Experience with Course Management Systems, i.e. Canvas, Sakai, Blackboard.
Terms & Compensation
  • Hourly rate $25.00.
  • Part time – less than 19.9 hours per week, day shift, on-site.
  • Temporary staff appointment – hourly.
  • Open until 02/06/2026.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply. Prospective employees should speak with their hiring manager to determine which policies apply to the role or position for which they are applying.

Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain a medical or religious exemption from the University will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
