Professionals receiving a doctoral degree in psychology should be capable of extending psychological knowledge and exhibiting the high level of analytic skills and theoretical understanding needed to use existing and emerging psychological knowledge.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Classroom Assistant for the Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
* Assists the certified special education teacher in providing educational and behavioral programming for students with developmental disabilities at the Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center - School Program.
* Works with active students within a one-to-one or small group (2-4 students) format in a crowded and moderately noisy conditions with children, adolescents and staff moving about.
* Supports classrooms of students with severe behavior challenges; a greater percentage of work time will be spent implementing crisis management techniques including defensive techniques in response to punches, kicks, etc.
* Assists in maintaining the educational and behavioral records on student progress kept in each students designated notebook, under direct supervision of, or direction from a certified Special Education Teacher.
FLSA Nonexempt Salary Details $17.83/hourly Offer Information

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
* High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats.
* Ability to use specialized instructional and/or record-keeping instruments.
* Ability to work with children and/or young adults with autism or other special needs.
* Ability to communicate effectively, have

* Ability to instruct and provide support to the specific student population.
Preferred Qualifications
* Some relevant experience working with children.
Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment
* Following training must be physically capable of safely providing crisis management techniques including restraining, lifting, blocking individuals with challenging behavior.
