Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Tutor II for Academic Support Services. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Provides academic assistance to assigned tutees, either individually or in pairs.
  • Assists with time management and organization for courses in which students are enrolled.
  • Provides direct assistance in reading and understanding assigned texts for all humanities, social science, and liberal arts courses in which students are enrolled.
  • Assists students to comprehend assignment requirements and develop a plan to meet them by improving academic capabilities.
  • Helps students develop a positive attitude toward learning and studying, as well as strong motivation in academic areas.
  • Attends initial and subsequent training sessions to ensure and maintain NCAA compliance.
Salary Details

$25 - $35 per hour.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Interest in course content in the field and in providing teaching-based academic support for academically at‑risk students.
  • Expert in one or more course subject.
  • Patience, persistence, and a positive attitude required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and/or previous experience working with students or teaching desired.
  • Expertise or experience with the Labor Studies and Employment Relations department at Rutgers University.
