Posting Summary

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick (RWJUH) is seeking a full‑time Nocturnist to join the Hospitalist Division with Rutgers‑Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, The State University of New Jersey.

Responsibilities:

• Manage admitted patients on the hospitalist medicine service in close collaboration with consultants and subspecialists at RWJUH.
• Partner with emergency department physicians, observation unit physicians, and intensivists for patients requiring admission to the hospitalist service for acute inpatient care on medical/surgical and intermediate care units.
• Coordinate inpatient care and assist with transitions of care back to the ambulatory setting.
• Work closely with medical and surgical support staff, including advanced practice providers.
• Support a team‑based approach, communicating with case managers, social workers, bed managers, pharmacy teams, and other stakeholders to ensure patient‑centered transitions of care.
• Participate in clinical and research programs, faculty development, quality improvement activities, and teaching initiatives in partnership with Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Qualifications:

• MD/DO or equivalent medical degree.
• Board eligible in Internal Medicine and/or Family Medicine.
• Experience in a hospitalist or comparable environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating complex inpatient care.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Shift work, including overnight hours, and responsibilities that require frequent charting, bedside care, and collaboration with a large healthcare team.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 100.3.1, if employment commences during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require proof of vaccination against Seasonal Influenza. Additional infection control policies may apply.
