Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, Comptroller, and Assistant Comptroller, the Accounting Assistant performs routine accounting duties related to the preparation and maintenance of financial records and accounting systems within the Office of General Ledger.
Responsibilities- Reconcile and post travel County wide travel expenditures.
- Chapter 159 and other budget amendments.
- Account balance inquiries on the Financial System and banking platforms.
- Compare general ledger accounts to bank accounts and subsidiary accounts to maintain correct balances.
- Compare the balances shown on the general ledger cash accounts prior to month-end closing to the balances shown in the General Ledger Reserve accounts.
- Maintain account receivable records and communication to various local government offices and customers for outstanding payments.
- Posting journal entries and other general ledger entries.
- Validate grant reporting and expenditures.
- Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
- Satisfactory completion of at least sixty (60) semester-hour credits at an accredited college or university including a minimum of twelve (12) semester-hour credits in accounting courses.
- Or two (2) years of experience in accounting or related field work.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-interview, employer-paid physical examination, drug screening, and background check, in accordance with applicable New Jersey and federal law.
- This position requires New Jersey residency in accordance with R.S. 52:14-7 (New Jersey First Act).
- $50,000,000-$57,500 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
