Med Surg Tele RN – Hartford Satellite Unit
Shift: 36 hours/week | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Unit: 23-Bed Medically Complex Satellite Unit
We are seeking an experienced Med Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our 23-bed Hartford Satellite Unit. This unit provides comprehensive treatment and rehabilitative services for patients requiring 24-hour nursing care due to medically complex conditions and chronic health needs. The RN will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing a diverse caseload in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry rhythms and promptly communicate changes.
- Manage a patient ratio of 1:7–8 while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments per protocol.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care with physicians, therapists, case management, and support staff.
- Support patients requiring rehabilitative services and complex discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, and post-discharge care.
- Document accurately and timely in the EMR system.
- Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
- Medically complex adult patients
- Chronic disease management (CHF, COPD, Diabetes, Renal conditions, etc.)
- Post-acute care requiring extended monitoring
- Patients requiring telemetry monitoring
- Individuals needing rehabilitative and supportive services
- Active RN License
- Minimum 3 years of recent Med Surg Telemetry experience
- Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
- BLS, ACLS (NIHSS Preferred)
- Experience with high patient ratios preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong time-management and prioritization skills
- Comfortable with medically complex and high-acuity patients
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Adaptable and confident in managing 7–8 patients safely
