About CCSU's Department of Music
The Department of Music offers a Bachelor of Arts in Music with six concentrations (Performance, Music Theory & Composition, Music Technology, Jazz Studies, Flexible Music, and Music with an External Minor), a Bachelor of Science in Music Education, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate for Teacher Preparation in Music Education (K-12). Our programs combine musical training with creative exploration and an active performance culture, preparing students for careers in teaching, performance, scholarship, and beyond.
Position Profile
This position supports faculty, staff, and students by coordinating academic processes, managing purchases and special payments, and assisting with core departmental operations. Key responsibilities include maintaining student records, supporting recruitment and retention efforts, contributing to marching band and music technology initiatives, and assisting the Department Chair with accreditation and other tasks essential to the department's daily operations and long‑term growth. Successful candidates will be adaptable, collaborative, and skilled at managing multiple priorities in a creative, student‑centered academic environment.
Applicant Evaluative Criteria
Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following:
Education:
All applicants must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Experience and Training:
* Two years of professional experience in academic or administrative operations
Ideal Candidate
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
* Bachelor's degree in music, Arts Administration, or related field
* Experience supporting academic or administrative operations in a higher‑education setting
* Proven ability to manage schedules, coordinate events, and track multiple deadlines
* Experience with budget monitoring, purchasing, and general resource management
* Experience with in the arts or related creative discipline
* Familiarity with music curriculum structures, accreditation standards, or assessment processes
* Prior involvement with a university marching band program, including scheduling, purchasing, or logistical coordination
* Practical knowledge to support music technology initiatives or related program development

Compensation and Employee Benefits
The Administrative Faculty Program Associate is compensated at the Administrator II salary level in accordance with the State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF) Collective Bargaining Union Agreement.
