Overview
Clinical Instructor-Nursing (Part-time, non-remot e). CT State Community College is developing a pool of applicants for potential part-time Clinical Instructor-Nursing positions (up to 17 hours per week). This posting is part of continuous recruitment and positions are filled on an as-needed basis by campus-specific needs. Applications will stay active for 1 year.

Position SummaryThe Community College system offers two-year liberal arts degree programs and a broad range of career, occupational and technical certificate and non-credit programs to meet diverse learning needs. Among these programs are courses in health care-adjacent fields.
Responsibilities (Examples)- Teach in accordance with approved course descriptions, learning outcomes, and schedule.
- Correlate clinical education with didactic education.
- Conduct clinical and laboratory experiences at specified times in the schedule in accordance with program policy.
- Provide virtual and simulation instructional support in collaboration with course faculty.
- Provide instruction in the clinical setting, including pre- and post-conferences.
- Offer educational opportunities benefiting students throughout the learning process.
- Incorporate learning principles into planning and implementing clinical instruction.
- Document and issue conference reports and referrals to students per program policies.
- Accurately complete students’ clinical performance documents and submit documentation at course conclusion to the Course Leader.
This posting includes qualifications, experience, and skills but is not limited to the full specifications stated in the job description. Candidates may perform some or all of the job functions. The physical demands reflect those of nursing practice, including standing for extended periods, lifting/moving patients and equipment, and responding to emergencies. Incumbents may travel to multiple clinical sites and need to have or arrange transportation.
Minimum QualificationsNURSING
Master’s degree in Nursing with two (2) or more years of clinical experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in compliance with State Board of Nursing regulations and program accreditation standards.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Unencumbered nursing license to practice in Connecticut.
- Proficiency in skills and knowledge related to the assigned nursing practice area.
- Clinical instruction, supervision, and evaluation.
- Use of various assessment methods to evaluate student performance in clinical settings.
- Familiarity with accreditation standards in the assigned discipline.
- Compliance with clinical placement requirements (which may include background and toxicology screenings).
- Compliance with FERPA.
PRACTICAL NURSING
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with three (3) years or more of clinical teaching experience. Working toward a master’s degree within four (4) years.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Unencumbered nursing license to practice in Connecticut.
- Proficiency in skills and knowledge related to the assigned area (medical, surgical, mental health, pediatric, maternity).
- Clinical instruction, supervision, and evaluation.
- Use of various assessment methods to evaluate student performance in clinical settings.
- Compliance with clinical placement requirements (background and toxicology screenings).
- Compliance with FERPA.
Candidates must be able to work effectively with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. Experience with reflective, interactive, culturally responsive pedagogical techniques is expected. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong IT literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office) are desired.
