Position Overview

Tilcon Connecticut has an opening for an experienced Administrative Assistant in our New Britain office. This person will support the field operations for our Construction/Paving operations. The selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co‑workers and managers. Our core values are safety, quality, and integrity in everything we do. to coordinate, support, and actively promote our safety processes. The Administrative Assistant will report directly to the General Superintendent and will comply with mandatory safety requirements and other functions of the team.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)
  • Process & verify daily crew timesheets with project managers & superintendents.
  • Verify and submit requests for daily jobsite material and transportation needs.
  • Assist forepersons & superintendents with set‑up for company phones, laptops, and tablets.
  • Track daily field & safety reporting documentation.
  • Assist team with office & safety supplies to do their jobs safely & efficiently.
  • Assist in processing employee forms for payroll and human resources.
  • Assist as office liaison with other company departments.
  • Work toward proficiency in use of departmental software programs.
  • Assist in day‑to‑day operations of office and field operation’s needs.
Qualifications

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment is a plus. Possibility for occasional overtime and Saturday work.

Education / Experience
  • Some college is a plus along with 2 to 5 years’ experience supporting administrative duties.
  • Accounting/job cost experience preferred but not required.
  • Any background in construction a plus.
Knowledge / Skill Requirements
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions.
  • Good problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to utilize resources and take initiative.
  • Ability to multi‑task and triage as needed without getting overwhelmed.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to diplomatically handle challenging situations.
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Available to start at 6 AM.
