Enterprise Communications Manager – New Braunfels Utilities
Pay Range: $/yr – $/yr (based on skills and experience)
Position Summary: The Enterprise Communications Manager is the day-to-day operational leader of the Enterprise Communications team. The role turns strategy into execution by developing clear communication plans, managing priorities, workflows, and delivering high-quality, timely communications across internal, external, digital, social, and brand channels. Requires strong professional communication experience, sound judgment, and ability to communicate effectively with executives, employees, media, and customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Lead day‑to‑day execution of internal and external communications, translating enterprise strategy into clear plans, timelines, and deliverables.
- Oversee communications across all channels: internal communications, external and media relations, social media, digital platforms, marketing, and brand initiatives.
- Ensure communications are accurate, timely, accessible and aligned with NBU’s brand standards, voice, and values.
- Provide guidance on messaging, tone, and approach for routine, complex, sensitive, or high‑visibility topics.
- Support planning and execution of crisis and emergency communications in coordination with leadership and operational teams.
- Lead and manage team performance, including goal‑setting, feedback, performance reviews, and development planning.
- Support onboarding, training, mentoring, and ongoing professional development of team members.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and accountable team culture that supports high‑quality work and continuous improvement.
- Manage team schedules, coverage, and leave coordination to ensure continuity of service and meet deadlines.
- Anticipate upcoming communication needs and proactively plan resources, priorities, and timelines.
- Strengthen communication governance through clear workflows, review processes, and standards.
- Manage the Enterprise Communications budget in coordination with the Director of Enterprise Communications.
- Approve purchases, contracts, and expenditures in accordance with NBU policies.
- Monitor spending to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with approved budgets.
- Coordinate with vendors and consultants to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
- Work closely with the Director of Enterprise Communications to align daily execution with enterprise strategy.
- Partner with internal departments and leadership to understand communication needs and provide guidance.
- Collaborate with subject‑matter experts to translate complex or technical information into clear audience‑appropriate messaging.
- Support executive communications, including presentations, briefings, and organizational updates.
- Serve as a brand steward for NBU, ensuring consistent application of brand standards, voice, and visual identity across all channels.
- Oversee brand governance, including templates, style guides, review processes, and approval workflows.
- Provide guidance to staff and internal partners on proper brand usage and risk mitigation.
- Model professionalism, integrity and ethical behavior.
- Maintain confidentiality of business, employee, and customer information.
- Adhere to NBU policies, procedures and safety standards.
- Support organizational goals and performance measures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field.
- Five (5+) years of related experience, including at least three (3+) years in a supervisory role.
- Strong professional communication experience and excellent judgment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with executives, employees, media and customers.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License (required for operating a company vehicle when necessary).
