New Braunfels Christian Ministries (NBCM) is a faith-based nonprofit providing services through Volunteers in Medicine (VIM), a charitable clinic for local, uninsured adults. VIM provides compassionate, high-quality medical, dental and mental healthcare to individuals who are uninsured and otherwise medically underserved. VIM delivers whole-person care that addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

SALARY & BENEFITS
  • Salary range: $115k-$125k/yr; commensurate with experience
  • Medical, Dental and Basic Life premiums covered by employer at 100%

POSITION SUMMARY

The VIM Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) is the heartbeat of our patient care, responsible for treating medical patients, nurturing a collaborative team culture, and ensuring that every patient who walks through our doors feels seen, heard, and cared for. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about people, mission-driven, and is energized by serving others—especially those most in need.

The NP/PA will embody NBCM’s faith-based values and champion the underserved.

The NP/PA implements best practices for quality of care, continuum of care, and support for the physical, behavioral, and emotional health of patients. Although this position reports to the VIM Clinic Director, this person operates under the license of the VIM Medical Director and therefore must work collaboratively with the medical director. This person exemplifies Christlike character in both personal and professional life, upholding Biblical values in attitude, speech, conduct, and lifestyle.

REQUIRED

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in primary care setting
  • Current Texas PA/NP license
  • Certification through National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Current DEA license
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
    • Able to learn and utilize new medical software and electronic medical records
    • Able to utilize desktop, laptop, and tablet computers to provide patient care and collect/analyze data
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience with Athena electronic medical records

    PRIVACY PRACTICE
    • All clinic employees must complete HIPAA training within 15 days of hire date
    • Annual trainings are required and provided by VIM including but not limited to HIPAA, OSHA, and CPR
    • It is the employee’s responsibility to comply with all privacy practices. Any infractions are subject to discipline and/or immediate termination.

    • Work well with a diverse group of patients, staff, volunteers, and donors
    • Engage with others in a kind & respectful manner
    TIME COMMITMENTS
    • Clinic days/hours are generally, Monday-Thursday 7:45am-5:00pm and Friday 8:00am-12:00pm
    • Full-Time;
      Year-Round; 36-40 hours per week
    • Must be available for meetings and events outside these hours as needed
