CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - New Braunfels (CSRH-NB) is a full‑service 94‑private‑bed facility located in downtown New Braunfels. It continues to expand to meet the growing population’s needs and offers innovative equipment and procedures, including an outpatient imaging center, orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, a renovated birthing center with 24/7 neonatal coverage, emergency care, wound care/hyperbaric center, 3D mammography, and comprehensive heart care from diagnostics to open‑heart surgery.

The competent nurse in a similar clinical setting practices independently, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. The nurse provides routine and complex care with the ability to address long‑range goals and plans, develops coping and contingency management skills, and delegates appropriately to support the clinical environment.

• Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments; monitors for side‑effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Registered Nurse license in the state of employment or a compact.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
• Current Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) certification required.
• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member and complete required competency validations in the Emergency Department.
• All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.

• BLS:
  No grace period.
• ACLS: 30 days for experienced; 90 days for new to specialty.
• PALS: 30 days for experienced; 90 days for new to specialty.
• TNCC: 60 days for experienced; 18 months for new to specialty.
• Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR): 60 days for experienced; 18 months for new to specialty.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): 30 days for experienced; 60 days for new to specialty.
• AWHONN Intermediate FHM: 30 days for experienced; 60 days for new to specialty.
• STABLE (Neonatal Education): 30 days for experienced; 60 days for new to specialty.
