Capital Planning Analyst

JOB SUMMARY

The Capital Planning Analyst serves as the primary lead for financial planning and management of capital expenditures within the organization. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies that ensure capital investments align with corporate financial objectives and regulatory requirements. The analyst will provide expert guidance to business units throughout the capital budgeting process, from initial request through project closeout.

• Develop and maintain multi-year capital expenditures forecast for the company.
• Lead the preparation and coordination of capital budgets across multiple business units, including operations, engineering, technology, and warehousing.
• Oversee the closeout process for completed capital projects, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Implement standardized naming conventions and classification for capital projects to support regulatory initiatives.
• Provide financial analysis and guidance for capital expenditure requests, ensuring adherence to approval protocols.
• Prepare visuals showing capital spend progress and forecast.
• Monitor the financial performance of completed projects, including tracking actual expenditures versus budget, and conducting post‑completion reviews.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including operations, engineering, procurement, and finance, to ensure capital expenditures align with the company's overall financial objectives.
• Assist with the development and implementation of strategies for asset replacement, including forecasting asset life‑cycle costs and determining optimal replacement schedules based on utilization, age, and cost of ownership.
• Assist with the asset tracking system to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date records of all capital assets, including cost, location, and maintenance history.

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on capital expenditures and budgeting.

• Knowledge of financial analysis, including ROI, NPV, and IRR.
• Solid understanding of warehousing practices, distribution terminology, and inventory control best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate to advanced level experience using Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with financial accounting systems, preferably JD Edwards Enterprise One, Power Plant, Insight, and database software.
• Excellent data analysis skills.

Works approximately 100% of the time in a controlled‑temperature office requiring the ability to sit for extended periods of time in front of a computer screen, use finger dexterity and hand strength to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation, use a telephone and operate a computer and other office equipment daily, speak and hear in person and on the phone, see sufficiently to perform assignments, intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies, and frequently lift or carry boxes of files, equipment or records weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
