Overview
St. John Paul II Catholic High School seeks a full‑time high school mathematics teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year. The position may include leading the math department in a college‑prep environment that maintains a fully authentic Catholic educational environment.
Responsibilities- Prepare curriculum documents to include standards, scope and sequences, syllabi, and lesson plans.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, activities, and materials to promote student success and achievement.
- Consistently monitor student achievement through formative and summative assessments.
- Update the school's electronic gradebook site (Ren Web) with lesson plans and student grades at least once per week.
- Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and administration.
- Attend faculty meetings, events, and professional development.
- Collaborate with other faculty members for professional, instructional, and supervisory duties.
- Assume a variety of roles in support of student activities outside of class, both during the school day and after normal school hours.
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Model the teachings of the Catholic Church as a witness to Gospel values.
- Adhere to safety training and protocols daily and take precautionary measures to ensure safety and well‑being.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or a degree with 24 credit hours in the content area.
- A valid appropriate Texas Teacher’s Certificate, or 12 credit hours in education courses.
- Technology proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations, and internet use for educational purposes).
- Must pass Archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening.
- Active Catholic Christian with a desire and ability to lead young people by example into deeper communion with faith, Blessed Mother, and Son, Jesus Christ.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction and the ability to engage and instruct students in the content area.
- Ability to manage a classroom and student behavior.
- Promptly address student needs through interventions, including modifying instructional approaches.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students, parents, and co‑workers.
- Lifelong learner of practice and openness to self‑reflect, receive, and implement feedback to improve teaching skills.
We are an Archdiocesan Catholic High School. Our students are oriented toward post‑secondary education and desire to be challenged in the classroom and inspired to grow in their faith. We use a Great Books approach in Humanities classes and offer seventeen AP and dual credit courses. Teachers must be active Catholics, with a desire and ability to lead young people by example into a deeper communion with our faith.
