St. John Paul II Catholic High School is seeking a mathematics teacher for the school year. The position is full-time, offers benefits, and may include leading the math department. The school maintains a fully Catholic environment and seeks teachers who share this faith with young people.
Responsibilities & Duties- Prepare curriculum documents, including standards, scope and sequences, syllabi, and lesson plans.
- Use appropriate and varied instructional strategies, activities, and materials to promote student success and achievement.
- Consistently monitor student achievement through formative and summative assessments.
- Update the school's electronic gradebook site (Ren Web) with lesson plans and student grades at least once per week.
- Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and administration.
- Attend faculty meetings, events, and professional development.
- Collaborate with other faculty members for professional, instructional, and supervisory duties.
- Assume a variety of roles in support of student activities outside of class, both during the school day and after normal school hours.
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Support and adhere to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Adhere to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and take precautionary measures to ensure safety and well-being.
- Protect the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy.
- Take a solution-oriented approach in interactions and undertakings, promoting collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
We are an Archdiocesan Catholic High School in our twelfth year. Our students are directed toward post-secondary education, challenged in the classroom, and inspired to grow in faith. We use a Great Books approach in Humanities classes and offer seventeen AP and dual credit courses. Our teachers must be active Catholics, desiring and able to lead young people by example into deeper communion with our faith.
Requirements- A Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics or 24 credit hours in the content area.
- Advanced degrees are preferred but not required.
- A valid Texas Teacher's Certificate or 12 credit hours in education courses.
- Technology proficiency: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations, and internet use for educational purposes.
- Pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening.
- Active Catholic Christian, desiring and able to lead young people into deeper communion with our faith.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction, able to engage and instruct students in the content area.
- Ability to manage a classroom and student behavior.
- Prompt address of student needs through interventions, including modifying instructional approaches.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and co-workers.
- Lifelong learner of practice, open to self-reflection and feedback to improve teaching skills.
