Financial Controller

100+ year old Central Texas construction company is seeking a Controller to provide oversight, direction and support to departments including Construction (unit price) government projects, Material production, Logistics and Equipment management. The candidate will ensure the department’s primary function of providing timely and accurate internal and external financial statements.

Oversee the operation of the accounting systems with responsibility for the quality and quantity of work performed.

Oversee the annual audit and manage the relationship with the external auditors.

• Maintain internal controls for accounting. Recommend design and implementation of new controls.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms, accounting standards, and tax regulations.
• Oversee compliance and filing for Sales, Franchise, and Payroll tax reporting.
• Provide relevant and timely financial information to Management.
• Supervise gathering of data to prepare monthly journal entries and financial statements.
• Prepare monthly journal entries to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare all monthly reconciliations in support of balance sheet accounts ensuring timely and accurate completion.
• Oversee monthly and annual Closing and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Key Support & Integration contact for commercial enterprise software suites.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry
• Knowledge of construction job costing, owner and vendor billing, and work in progress reporting.
• Must be proficient in major construction accounting software (currently using Trimble Vista Viewpoint)
• Advanced proficiency with Excel.
• Experience with software such as Command Alcon (APEX Scale), HCSS Heavy Bid, and Crystal Reports Designer are beneficial.
