Primary Purpose
This position helps to provide patient care to the Craven County Health Department maternity clients.
Essential Functions Regular and High-Risk Maternity Clinics- Update screening questions, prepare patient for provider, address and report any problems to the Physician and/or Advanced Practice Provider, review physician instructions with patient, administer injections, perform catheterizations as ordered, record lab work/ultrasound results in electronic medical record appropriately, communicate/coordinate with Social Worker, Case Manager and Nutritionist regarding patient needs; contact patients by phone with appointment information as needed.
- In the event of a disaster will be assigned to a Red Cross Shelter to function as a Health Care Professional.
- Other related duties as assigned by Supervisor, Nursing Director or Health Director.
Graduation from a state accredited program of practical nurse education and one year of practical nurse experience, which includes advanced or in-service training in the area to which assigned; or graduation from a state accredited program of practical nurse education including a pharmacology course, or completion of an approved pharmacology course upon graduation, which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the administration of medications required by the work setting;
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Maternity experience preferred.
Special RequirementsLicensed to practice as a practice nurse in North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing.

Life Insurance and AD&DCraven County provides eligible employees with $10,000 life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage through One America AUL. Employees have the option to purchase additional coverage and/or dependent coverage at their own expense.
Disability InsuranceCraven County provides eligible employees with $50.00 per week in disability insurance through One America AUL. Employees have the option to purchase additional disability insurance at their own cost.
North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' Retirement SystemEligible employees are automatically enrolled in the retirement system and must contribute 6% of their gross salary each pay period. Once eligibility requirements are met, employees will be able to receive monthly payments for life based on their salary, age, and years of service credit.
NC401kCraven County contributes 2% of eligible employees' gross salary into the 401(k) account regardless of the employee's deferral amount. In addition, the County matches employee deferrals up to an additional 3%.
Annual LeaveRegular full-time employees earn annual leave based upon years of service. Eligible employees begin to accrue annual leave as soon as they start but must complete a six month probationary period before they are eligible to use annual leave.
- Less than two years of service earns 10 days per year.
- Two but less than five years of service earns 12 days per year.
- Five but less than 10 years of service earns 15 days per year.
- 10 but less than 20 years of service earns 18 days per year.
- 20 or more years of service earns 20 days per year.
