St. Paul Catholic School in New Bern, NC, is seeking a Middle (Upper) School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to serve as a long-term substitute for the remainder of the current school year, with the opportunity to continue into the next school year. We are looking for a dedicated, faith-filled educator who can provide strong ELA instruction while fostering a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment rooted in Catholic values.

• Teach middle school English Language Arts using effective, standards-based instructional practices
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that support student growth in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literature
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate academic records
• Foster a classroom culture of respect, responsibility, and academic excellence
• Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school administration
• Support the mission and values of Catholic education in daily interactions and classroom practice
• Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and other professional responsibilities as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field required
• North Carolina English/Language Arts licensure preferred
• Middle school teaching experience preferred
• Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background and reference check; must complete Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training upon hire.
