Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. • Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer inquiries.
• Cut meats to customer’s requests using proper cutting equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of meat specials.
• Provide customers with fresh/frozen products that match their orders and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend meat items to ensure customers get what they want and need.
• Use all equipment in the meat department (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
• Prepare food to company standards.
• Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and notifying store management of unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying relevant parties of items needing repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks, issues, or illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Work cooperatively in high‑paced and sometimes stressful environments.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Support and assist through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• Adequate knife handling skills and knife speed.
• At least 18 years of age.

• Meat experience.
• Retail experience.
• Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
