Job Title:

Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and redesigning components and systems using Solid Works, focusing on detailed specifications and codes relevant to the government industry. You will work on designing cranes, material handling equipment, and other devices in a collaborative, structured 3-D environment.

Responsibilities

* Design mechanical drive systems and perform initial sizing calculations for motors, gearboxes, couplings, and other mechanical components.

* Create detailed designs while adhering to customer specifications and industry codes from various countries.

* Annotate drawings with AWS D1.1 weld symbols, ANSI machining symbols, and other standardized signs to clearly communicate designs for customers and manufacturing facilities.

* Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) to itemize all components of the mechanical design.

* Collaborate with other disciplines, including electrical, structural, civil, and installation teams, for turn-key projects.

* Perform design changes and modernizations on existing equipment for customers seeking to upgrade their material handling devices.

* Provide phone support and technical assistance to installation crews or customers as needed.

* Develop detailed technical specifications and procedures for customer use.

* Optimize bridge girders, trolleys, and other crane components in a team environment to reduce costs and improve delivery schedules.

Essential Skills

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

* At least 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering.

* A minimum of 3 years of experience with Solid Works.

* 3 years of experience working with OEM/Industrial equipment industry or heavy weldment design.

Skills & Qualifications

* Experience in designing with a focus on crane and material handling equipment.

* Familiarity with the OEM/Industrial equipment industry.

Work Environment

This position involves working in a team that focuses on the modernization and updating of cranes, requiring frequent redesign tasks. The environment encourages collaboration and sharing of models among engineers to facilitate comprehensive project execution.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Berlin, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $60.00/hr.
