Certified Medical Assistant – Southcoast Health
Southcoast Health is a not‑for‑profit health system committed to community‐focused, care‑driven service across southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We are looking for a talented Certified Medical Assistant to join our Women‑Children Clinic in New Bedford, MA.
Location & Schedule- Location:
Women‑Children – New Bedford, MA - Hours:
40 hours per week - Shift: Day shift, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

$3,500 new‑hire sign‑on bonus. Rehires more than one year ago are also eligible.
Responsibilities- Perform a variety of medical‑assisting duties within and in support of assigned Medical Office(s) under the Medical Assistant Group Supervisory Agreement.
- Assist providers with patient care and procedures under supervision of primary care providers and nurses.
- Collaborate with clinic team members, patients, and families to ensure high‑quality care.
- Facilitate efficient patient flow through the clinic or medical office.
- Handle telephone communication with patients, including test results, surgery schedules, procedures, and appropriate follow‑up.
- Utilize an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and related software to update and access patient information.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Provide medical interpretation in a language other than English when qualified.
- Completion of four years of high school or equivalent.
- National third‑party certification (AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NCMA) required within 13 months of hire if not already certified.
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent experience.
- BLS certification required.
- Prior EMR experience preferred.
- One year of medical‑assistant work experience preferred.
- Fluency in a language other than English (medical interpreting) preferred.
- Other specialty‑based certifications may be preferred.
- Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID‑19 unless medically or personally exempt.
- Compensation will be determined based on level of experience.
$21.94 – $28.56 per hour.
