SummaryThe machine builder is responsible for the assembly of machines, specialized equipment, and automation systems based off designs, drawings, manuals, and other technical specifications provided.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assemble complete machines from components including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Integrates both mechanical machines and complex automated systems in accordance with final design intent with assembly drawings, manuals, and technical specifications, etc.
- Verifies conformance of parts to the bill of material and drawings, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
- Identifies and resolves issues during the assembly process, working with mechanical and controls engineers and other team members to ensure machine quality, design intent and function.
- Set up and test equipment before delivery; troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
- Constructs, rebuilds, and repairs machines, understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Installs and troubleshoots machines integrated into automation systems.
- Ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in the manufacturing process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED. Formal apprenticeship training and/or certifications.
- 5 years experience in machine building, millwright or a related field is necessary.
- This position may require a government security clearance.

- Reads and understands design intent, drawings, schematics, and/or measuring devices.
- Overall machine construction assembling, installing, and maintaining industrial machinery.
- Solid working knowledge of assembling mechanical components with good understanding of fits.
- Proficient in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Follows processes and standard procedures.
- Work in a high energy, high volume, rapidly changing environment.
- Displays a high level of initiative and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
- Ensure accuracy and precision in all aspects of the machine build process.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, cranes in large manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of computer applications including email, databases, word-processing program, and spreadsheets (such as Microsoft Office).
- Works collaboratively and builds strategic relations with colleagues, coworkers, contractors, and customers. Clear and effective communication skills

- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.

- Operate a motor vehicle and/or heavy equipment.
- Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
- Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
- Read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and operation of machines.
