Responsibilities- Manage and oversee all shift operations in a manner that enhances the plant's safety, personnel engagement, cost reduction, productivity, quality of the product, and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure a safe work environment and that all PPE is available and used by all team members as appropriate for the job.
- Ensure team members are properly trained for the work and production targets being asked to perform/achieve. Monitor and report the on-the-job training process for new and transferred employees. Make recommendations to management on employees who have proven the aptitude to be cross-trained to maintain workforce flexibility.
- Act as the voice and face of leadership and ensure all communication is conducted respectfully with safety first. Confers with management and team members to resolve personnel issues and supports coaching/development as necessary to achieve company targets.
- Communicate product quality and productivity performance to team members so they can self-correct during the shift. Support as necessary and communicate with Human Resources and Management on situations where corrective action is necessary.
- Ensure hourly/daily production reporting is accurate and daily product quality and production goals are achieved. Work with maintenance when machine/tool/die issues negatively impact the production schedule.
- Be accountable for ensuring a smooth transition between shifts and properly communicate any resource issues to Human Resources and Management.
- Ensure the production schedule is completed as scheduled and report issues negatively impacting the schedule to the Scheduler and Management as appropriate.
- Ensure completion of daily job orders, employee assignment and time-off requests.
- Maintain a "visual workplace" using production boards, equipment status boards, etc.
- Address and/or resolve off-schedule situations, lost time and production targets that are off-standard. Communicate opportunities for improvement to Engineering and/or Management.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or Engineering preferred (Other degrees acceptable with a strong technical aptitude)
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Proven people management skills and ability to develop and/or maintain a team.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills (ERP, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Technical background in injection molding, and/or high speed assembly is highly preferred
- Lean or Six Sigma qualification is preferred
