IT Support, Systems Engineer
The Decommissioning Team at Amazon Data Services, Inc. is responsible for processing and facilitating large-scale legacy data center equipment through a liquidation process. Team members also process large volumes of customer media to ensure all media is sanitized, properly managed, and secure.
Key Job Responsibilities- Take ownership of technical issues raised by customers and engage other teams to drive resolution.
- Show strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Solve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context.
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
- Act in the absence of direction or support.
- Improve effectiveness through process innovation.
- Engage in physical data center activities including planning, capacity tracking, rack deployment, cable management, hardware/software troubleshooting, and rack decommissioning.
- Lift and move material up to 49 pounds, work in cramped or elevated locations, bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand, walk for up to 8+ hours a day, ascend and descend ladders and stairs safely, work in a noisy environment, and shift longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or A+ or Network+ or Security+ certification.
- 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- Current, active US Government security clearance TS/SCI with polygraph.
- 1+ years of data center experience.
- Experience with decommissioning and processing legacy hardware out of data center facilities, unpacking/repacking fragile electronics, and relocating and moving large enterprise equipment.
- Hard drive installation and removal, destruction, and basic networking removal/installation and configuration clearing.
- Familiarity with basic PC components/hardware: HDD/SSD/Flash/Removable storage media, RAM, CPU, motherboard, input-output devices.
- Previous experience working on IT equipment (racking, stacking, cable management, building computers, troubleshooting PCs/desktops/laptops) and migrating and decommissioning data center assets.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
