This role provides technical support for Distribution Management Systems (DMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems used in distribution and transmission operations. The ideal candidate is adaptable, customer-focused, and committed to improving the quality, reliability, and performance of the systems supported.
Essential Job Functions TOPS SCADA / DMS / EMS Responsibilities- Support and guide less-experienced analysts in problem resolution
- Train junior analysts on equipment and software support
- Maintain reliable operations of DMS, EMS, and SCADA systems
- Recommend improvements to data quality and system reliability
- Maintain real‑time data interfaces
- Develop, improve, and implement system tools and software
- Keep systems and tools updated with current technology
- Build and maintain custom system displays
- Perform modeling, check‑out, and commissioning of Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
- Build and maintain system models
- Define and implement internal DMS/EMS/SCADA standards
- Apply Human Performance Initiative rules and track Key Performance Indicators
- Provide technical support for SCADA standards and production activities
- Assist in standards development, project scoping, RTU setting creation, and troubleshooting
Scope small‑to‑medium SCADA projects with limited supervision - Identify process and tool issues and suggest solutions
- Complete complex RPA and RTU configurations (new and legacy)
- Expand knowledge of communication technologies, including legacy systems
- Support stakeholders with SCADA‑related issues
- Complete alarms and basic I/O settings for greenfield and brownfield projects
- Implement standards with guidance from senior team members
- Assist with SCADA compliance tasks
- Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related technical field, OR
- High school diploma with two years of related military or electric utility technical experience
- 3 years DMS/EMS/SCADA experience with an Associate’s Degree
- 5 years DMS/EMS/SCADA experience with a high school diploma
- Bachelor’s Degree candidates may be considered with 1 year of DMS/EMS/SCADA experience
- Application development

- Strong understanding of operational practices for assigned equipment and software
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, organizational, and facilitation skills
- Experience with SCADA systems required
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems in assigned areas
- Provide after‑hours support as needed
- Learn current technologies and their application to SCADA
- Understand basic Protection and Control applications and their impact on SCADA
- Develop knowledge of substation equipment under guidance from senior team members
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; overtime as needed
- Travel: approximately 5% for occasional meetings in Gahanna
- Onsite: 5 days per week in the office
- Local candidates in Central Ohio preferred
