Summary/Objective

The Industrial Machine System Jr Apprentice is responsible for learning various industrial maintenance practices through a 4000‑hour apprenticeship program. Including, but not limited to plant safety, blueprint reading, repair and construction of new components for machines, machine assembly and maintenance, troubleshooting of electrical and pneumatic systems, and troubleshooting of PLC and NC/CNC controls.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

Set up and maintain automated and manual machines

Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on machines

Log maintenance and repairs in a maintenance system

Replace, repair and create new components for production equipment

Act as a proactive team member working directly with experienced journeyman toolmakers, technicians, and electrical engineers

Complete trade‑related coursework totaling 288+ hours

The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities.

Required Experience

Must enjoy working with your hands

Experience with saws, lathes, mills, and surface grinders is a plus

Experience with bench fittings and assembly of machinery or engines is a plus

Experience with PLCs and electrical troubleshooting is a plus

High mechanical aptitude; preferred score in the 67th percentile on the Bennett Mechanical test

Above average math skills

Self‑starter with strong leadership skills

Willingness to work in a high‑decibel noise environment

Ability to lift at least 50 lbs from floor to waist on a regular basis

Track record of adhering to all applicable safety standards, rules, and regulations

Preferred Education

High School Diploma or GED is required

Vocational or trade school diploma is a plus

Credit for past apprenticeship training and hours earned may be honored
