DescriptionJoin our dynamic team of experienced track laborers who have been dedicated to building and maintaining tracks for Union Pacific for over 150 years! As a Track Laborer - Driver Eligible, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trains, serving customers across North America.
Required CertificationsAs part of your probationary period, you will be required to obtain certification as a Union Pacific driver. To be eligible for this certification, you must meet the following Motor Vehicle and Medical Requirements:
You must meet the medical requirements (physical qualifications) for commercial motor vehicle drivers as specified by the US Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Final determination on medical qualifications will be made by Union Pacific Health and Medical Services, who may add additional requirements to ensure safe job performance.
Accountabilities- Handle, help unload, and move track materials and equipment from rail cars, carts, or trucks.
- Remove and replace rails, rail anchors, spikes, ballast, ties, and other parts as needed.
- Work with equipment; dig holes and trenches, etc.
- Observe track conditions for problems or defects.
- Follow safety rules, practices, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules, safety standards, and FRA regulations.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors, and customers.
- Drive company vehicles as needed.
- Maintain track beds by cutting vegetation and snow removal.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Applicants must be 21 years or older.
- Conduct regular inspections of tracks and right-of-way.
- Replace and repair track components.
- Assist in unloading and handling track materials.
- Maintain track beds and ensure safety compliance.
- Operate company vehicles.
- Perform track maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with railroad safety regulations.
- Foster positive working relationships.

- Valid CDL - Class A or
B. - Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Welding skills or certification.
- Experience operating heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with construction environments.
- Minimum one year in Railroad Maintenance of Way.
- Flexibility for on-call, overtime, and various shifts.
Job Requirements
- Pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT).
- Engage in physically demanding tasks.
- Lift/carry up to 65 lbs; push/pull up to 119 lbs.
- Stand, walk, and climb as required.
- Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
- Willing to wear PPE and work in rural/remote areas.
- Work around heavy machinery.
- Commitment to safety and travel requirements.
- Own reliable transportation.
