Under general supervision, performs routine public contact and leads children and/or adults in recreational activities; and performs other work as assigned. Program Aide will be responsible for the Young Citizens Youth Center (YCAC). Duties include the daily operation of the center including administrative duties, leading recreational activities and maintaining interior and exterior of the center.
Essential Functions:- Demonstrates regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
- Daily opening/closing of the YCAC Facility.
- Maintain sign-in sheets and/or program forms.
- Leads recreational activities for participants; instructs volunteer participants and staff to aid their understanding of the activities; addresses concerns of volunteer participants and members of the public; deals effectively with the public on a regular basis.
- Performs routine maintenance and custodial functions; maintains facilities and equipment in a neat and orderly condition.
- Maintains an orderly atmosphere among the participants and staff in the program.
- Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
- Assists in developing and implementing sports and other special events such as, but not limited to, coordinating leagues, coordinating tournaments and other activities.
- Develops and distributes flyers and other promotional materials for special events; responds to public inquiries about special events made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings.
- Maintains records and statistics for programs.
- Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering phone, typing correspondence, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, helping set up tables and chairs for classes, etc.
- Recreation activities planning and administration.
- Equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a recreation program.
- Special events planning and administration.
- Basic computer knowledge – Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail.
- Planning and managing facilities, programs and projects.
- Administering programs and staff through supervision.
- Work independently and in a group with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Develop, coordinate, and direct varied activities involved in a special events program.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors, contractors, participants and the general public.
- Understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
Shift work, split shifts, rotating work schedule, weekdays, weekend and overtime work may be required. Applicants must be 16 years or older and must have a current Nevada Driver's License. Position is safety sensitive and must pass background check.
