Position: SECURITY SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Location: Nellis Air Force Base

Duties The primary purpose of this position is:
Serves as the Government Special Access Program (SAP) Security Officer (GSSO) at the United States Air Force Warfare Center. Lead, direct, manage and operationally supervise the SAP security of five wings and two named units with more than 13,000 military and civilian personnel serving in the 57th Wing (Nellis), 53rd Wing (Eglin), 99th Air Base Wing (Nellis), 505th Command and Control Wing (Hurlburt), 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing (Eglin), the Nevada Test and Training Range (Nellis), and the Air Force Joint Test Program Office (Nellis).

Execute the robust USAFWC SAP responsibilities across warfare environments, operational test and evaluation, tactics development, advanced training, joint and coalition integration, and innovation. In addition to supporting the USAFWC staff, the incumbent will exercise supervisory and managerial authority of the USAFWC Advanced Programs Office which specifically oversees the 53rd Wing, 505th Command and Control Wing, and the 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing security enterprise.

DUTY 1:
Plans, organizes, directs, and administratively/operationally supervises the activities of the USAFWC SAP office for the USAFWC and subordinate units. DUTY 2:
As the USAFWC's SAP technical advisor, consults on the Center's SAP security functions, with emphasis on information, personnel, and physical security disciplines. DUTY 3:
Represents the USAFWC with a variety of councils, boards, working groups, and panels inside and outside the agency. DUTY 4:
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities for both an administrative as well as an operational security chain of command. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This position is designated special-sensitive, and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to both Special Access Programs and Sensitive Compartmented Information.
* This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.
* Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
* Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
* Employee must maintain current certifications
* Disclosure of Political Appointments
* This Position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
* The employee is designated as an Emergency/Key/Mission Essential staff position. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions. EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes comprehensive knowledge of security policy requirements to function as technical authorities in assignments requiring the application of new theories and developments to security problems. Apply knowledge of other security specialties to resolve major conflicts in policy and program objectives.

Perform key decision-making and policy-developing responsibilities in difficult assignments, such as planning for new security program requirements or leading interagency study groups. Advise top-level agency security and subject-matter managers on new developments, planning long-range studies and forecasts, recommending methods for enhancing security system efficiency, evaluating and making recommendations concerning overall plans and proposals for major agency and interagency security projects, and implementing national level guidance in agency standards, guidelines, or policies for major security programs.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
