Overview

The Charge Nurse is primarily responsible for directing and coordinating the patient care activities on the Med-Surg/ICU units. This includes assessing patient needs and ensuring appropriate staffing and resources levels.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate patient care activities on the Med-Surg/ICU units.
  • Assess patient needs and ensure appropriate staffing and resources levels.
Qualifications
  • Possession of valid license to practice as an RN in the State of NV is required
  • BSN preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification
  • 5 years of nursing experience with supervisory nursing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of nursing principles and practices; hospital policies, procedures and routines; disease processes and treatment, including psychological, environmental and physical factors that influence a patient’s well-being
  • Working knowledge of the laws and regulations governing patient care and medical center operations
  • Ability to supervise the department in the provision of patient care; provide excellent and courteous customer service; establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to establish priorities in solving unusual medical and administrative problems
  • Create a workplace environment where staff share ideas in a non-punitive environment; ensure two-way communication
  • Provide effective communication between administration, management, and staff (e.g., staff meetings, communication books, boards)
