The private duty licensed practical nurse ensures quality and safe delivery of home health care services by utilizing basic nursing skills and the nursing process. As a member of the health care team, the licensed practical nurse assists in the provision of home care services that reflect the Children’s Home Care of Dayton philosophy and standards of home health and nursing care of clients.
The home care licensed practical nurse works closely with the Private Duty Manager, agency staff, referring physicians and other health care professionals to provide skilled, professional nursing care.

- Provide nursing care to pediatric patients in home setting within 24/7 coverage networks.
- Assess patients using nursing process; develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Collaborate with Private Duty Manager, agency staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate families on safe equipment usage and disease prevention.
- Nursing experience in acute care, nursing home, general pediatrics, neonatology, or current pediatric home care.
- Professional certification within 3 years of hire.
- Valid CPR card;
Pharmacology card. - Valid Ohio driver’s license; minimum of 21 years old.
- Eligibility for coverage under hospital’s insurance policy.
- High School (required).
- LPN:
Licensed Practical Nurse (Ohio Board of Nursing). - CPR:
Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (American Heart Association).
Dayton Children’s Home Care provides pediatric home care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to children in 22 counties, offering a wide variety of services from caring for children with long term chronic illnesses, premature births, education on safe equipment usage and prevention of diseases, to caring for short-term recovery from injuries and hospitalizations.
Workdays: 4 days per week (M-F), 8 AM–5 PM approximate.
