We are seeking a Night Shift Operations Manager (OM) for the Principal Underground Laboratory for Subcritical Experimentation (PULSE) facility. The OM reports to the PULSE Deputy Facility Manager and is responsible for managing operations within the facility during night shift. This position supports the facility’s mission of performing subcritical experiments as part of the Stockpile Stewardship Program.
Nuclear Facility Worker - This position is subject to the requirements of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Order 426.2.Education and experience requirements will be screened.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing Shift Operations Managers, Operations Superintendent(s), and Nuclear Facility Operations Specialists designated to support the OM for operator rounds, facility monitoring and control, and operations personnel (craft or other) during night shift.
- Interfacing with the facility Work Management Center and Work Control Coordinator.
- Maintaining overall responsibility for coordinating and deconflicting facility operations, maintenance, and construction activities within the facility and for those activities external to the facility that may impact the facility. The OM deconflicts and coordinates with experiment, maintenance, and construction activities that are on-going at or impact PULSE.
- Providing oversight and direction for safe operations and implementation of conduct of operations processes within the facility.
- Overseeing the facility operations status, including reporting concerns to the Facility Manager and Deputy Facility Manager, and maintaining the facility operations logbook in conjunction with direct reports.
- Working with facility maintenance personnel to ensure facility structures, systems, and components (SSC) are maintained as required and outages are coordinated and communicated properly.
- Ensuring that facility SSC are in a condition to support the operations for which they are intended.
- Ensuring compliance with operational limits (i.e., Technical Safety Requirements, Limited Condition for Operation) established with the approved Safety Basis.
- Ensuring the facility is ready to support nuclear and subcritical experiment operations.
- Help meet configuration management and compliance requirements.
- Acting as an Alternate Facility Manager.
- Acting as a Local Emergency Director.
- Act as the Control Account Manager for the facility operations budget and ensuring operations personnel work within the operations budget.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 11 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
- Four years of nuclear experience is required per DOE O 426.2.
