Gardnerville Town Maintenance Assistant Seasonal

Ready to make Gardnerville beautiful? We are looking for motivated people to help us keep the flowers on 395 beautiful and perform basic maintenance around town. Learn about the behind-the-scenes duties we perform for the Town residents that make Gardnerville one of the most desirable places to be.

The approximate duration of the position is from May 2026 to October 2026 with approximately 40 hours weekly during this period. Day shift and weekends required. No benefits with temporary positions. This recruitment is intended to fill two vacancies.

Please note, you must describe and demonstrate your experience with general lawn/plant care, maintenance or custodial.

Performs intermediate work performing skilled and semi‑skilled tasks in the care and maintenance of buildings, facilities and grounds. Assisting with rental facilities and their customers; performing related tasks as apparent or assigned.

This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random and pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening.

• Maintains and promotes town kept plants, shrubs, trees, and grasses.
• Coordinates and schedules the rental of facilities with the public for events and activities; ensures proper setup of facilities; opens and closes facilities.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and polishes floors; sweeps, vacuums and spot cleans carpeted areas.
• Dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork; dusts counters, windowsills, window blinds and similar fixtures.
• Empties, cleans and lines waste receptacles and disposes of trash.
• Washes doors, windows, walls, ceilings, window blinds and furniture; polishes metalwork.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms; restocks restroom supplies as necessary.
• Performs basic building repair work; may paint facilities and perform graffiti removal; maintains drinking fountains; clean and change light bulbs.
• Closes windows, turns off lights, and locks doors to secure buildings.
• Reports the need for maintenance or repair of facilities to the appropriate supervisor; corrects or reports any fire or safety hazards and places barriers in public areas.
• Inspects, cleans and maintains park grounds, athletic fields, campsites, paved areas and paths as required.
• Maintains equipment, materials and supplies in proper condition.
• Observes safe working practices, including maintaining storage areas in a safe condition.
• Answers questions and provides standard information to the public.
• Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.
• Keeps basic records of work performed, time sheets, etc.
• Maintains inventory of necessary supplies.
• May assist town staff in basic road maintenance.
• May perform Town commercial and residential trash collection as required.
• Sets‑up meeting rooms, sound equipment and rearranges furniture.
• Uses County vehicle to perform various tasks related to job duties.
• Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
• Contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.

• Position requires a High School diploma or GED and 1 year of experience performing general maintenance and custodial duties; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Valid Driver's License Required
