Job Summary
Play an integral role in building and supporting the workforce of Douglas County. As a Human Resources Coordinator, you will serve as the first point-of-contact for employees, providing efficient and effective service in the administration of employee benefits, background screenings, personnel record management, and related tasks. Strong customer service skills, confidentiality, and a commitment to professionalism are essential.
Primary ObjectivesPerform intermediate-level technical and paraprofessional Human Resources work in support of assigned program areas including recruitment, classification, training coordination, risk management, payroll administration, and related programs. Provide administrative and operational support through data entry, records maintenance, tracking, and coordination of processes while following established policies and procedures.
Essential Functions- Collect, review, and summarize information; prepare routine reports and documentation; provide technical support in recruitment, background checks, employee records, risk management, benefits administration, training coordination, performance management, and wellness programs.
- Respond to routine inquiries and communicate established policies, procedures, codes, and regulations to County staff, other agencies, and the public.
- Guide departmental staff on form completion and information processing; review submissions for completeness and accuracy; reconcile or correct errors per established procedures.
- Review benefits information with new hires and existing staff, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance plans; accurately enter and maintain data in applicable software systems.
- Contribute to unit service efficiency by offering suggestions and participating as an active team member.
- Process employee and volunteer background screenings, pre-employment requirements, and new hire orientation in accordance with County policies and regulatory requirements.
- Record new liability and workers’ compensation claims; contact injured employees to obtain required information; coordinate communication regarding injury reporting, treatment, and care plans per protocols.
- Communicate with employees, supervisors, physicians, vendors, and other parties to exchange information related to County facilities, staff, prospective staff, and volunteers.
- Use judgment within established policies and guidelines to resolve routine issues, identify discrepancies, and refer complex matters to appropriate Human Resources staff.
- Coordinate administrative activities of departmental committees, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and maintaining records.
- Assist in administration of employee physicals, drug and alcohol testing programs, and related compliance activities per applicable policies and regulations.
- Provide assistance and information regarding Human Resources programs, services, policies, and procedures while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Research individual records and transactional data to resolve routine employee issues, communicate status updates, and correct errors.
- Represent the County with dignity, integrity, and cooperation in all interactions with staff and the public.
- Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.
- High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of progressively responsible customer service or administrative experience in a human resources or closely related environment, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Nevada Notary Public within one (1) year of employment.
- Frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
- Requires repeated sitting, speaking, hearing, and hand use; occasional standing, walking, reaching, and pushing or pulling.
- Standard vision and vocal communication required; hearing required for oral communication.
- Preparation and analysis of written or computer data; moderate office noise.
