Play an integral role in building and supporting the workforce of Douglas County. As a Human Resources Coordinator you will serve as a first point-of-contact in meeting the needs of your fellow employees. We are seeking an individual with strong customer service and a commitment to confidentiality and professionalism to provide efficient and effective service in the administration of employee benefits, processing of background screenings, personnel record management and more.

Objectives

Performs intermediate-level technical and paraprofessional Human Resources work in support of one or more assigned human resources program areas, including recruitment, classification, training coordination, Risk Management activities, payroll administration and related programs; providing administrative and operational support through data entry, records maintenance, tracking, and coordination of processes; following established policies, procedures and guidelines under direction; performing related work as apparent or assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Collects, reviews, and summarizes information; prepares routine reports and documentation; and provides technical support in assigned Human Resources program areas, including recruitment support, background checks, employee records, risk management activities, benefits administration, employee training coordination, performance management support, and employee wellness programs.
  • Responds to routine inquiries and provides factual information by communicating established policies, procedures, codes, and regulations to County staff, representatives of other agencies, and the public.
  • Confers with departmental staff providing guidance on the proper completion of forms and processing of information; reviews submissions for completeness and accuracy; and reconciles or corrects errors in accordance with established procedures.
  • Reviews benefits information with new hires and existing staff, including health, dental, vision, life insurance and related plans; and accurately enters and maintains data in applicable software systems.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
  • Processes employee and volunteer background screenings, pre-employment requirements, and new hire orientation activities in accordance with County policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Records new liability and workers’ compensation claims; contacts injured employees to obtain required information; and coordinates communication regarding injury reporting, treatment, and plan of care in accordance with established protocols.
  • Communicates with employees, supervisors, physicians, vendors, and other parties, as appropriate, to exchange information related to County facilities, employees, prospective employees, and volunteers.
  • Exercises judgment within established policies, procedures, and guidelines to resolve routine issues, identify discrepancies, and refer complex matters to appropriate Human Resources staff.
  • Coordinates administrative activities of departmental committees, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and maintaining records.
  • Assists in administration of employee physicals, drug and alcohol testing programs, and related compliance activities in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Provides assistance and information to staff regarding Human Resources programs, services, policies and procedures, while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Researches individual records and transactional data to resolve routine employee issues, and communicates status updates, and correct errors.
  • Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
  • Contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.
