Location: Nellis Air Force Base
Duties Plans, directs, and manages the activities of the Center Inspector General office, ensuring that programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet the needs of the organization. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities for a military and civilian staff. Serves as the Commander's principal advisor on Air Force Complaints Resolution and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) programs. Oversees the operation and management of Self-Assessment, Exercise, and Inspection programs.
Represents the Inspector General office and programs with a variety of wing/center and functional area organizations. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance.
* This position requires a high degree of discretion due to access to sensitive information.
* The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
* A Master's degree or equivalent experience in public management, administration or criminal justice is desired but not mandatory.
* This position requires at least five years' experience in the Complaints Resolution program.
* Must have completed a reprisal and a restriction investigation. Qualifications (Cond't)... IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete the Inspector General Training Course (IGTC) within 90 days of appointment; must complete the USAF Basic Inspectors Course for the Commanders Inspection Program within 90 days of assignment; and IG appointees for nuclear-capable units will complete the USAF Nuclear Inspector Course within 180 days of assignment.
Successful completion of other courses will be accomplished IAW applicable DoD and AF regulations. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, General Inspection Investigation Enforcement and Compliance Series 1801 SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of complex inspection, investigation, enforcement, and/or compliance principles, concepts, and practices; as well as knowledge of Public Laws, Executive Orders, DoD Regulations, Air Force Instructions, administrative and legal procedures, and other decisions/standards related to agency activities and IG programs sufficient to conduct interviews, inspections, and investigations to analyze the nature of the complaint and specific issues to be addressed.
Knowledge of Air Force, MAJCOM, and wing/center/installation program goals and objectives; IG functions, operations, policies, procedures, and practices; the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones; and the relationship of various installation entities involved in overall program planning and execution of military operations and evaluations.
