Job Description

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high‑hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site’s Cold‑War legacy.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, schedule, and coordinate the implementation, tracking, and monitoring of nuclear maintenance activities.
  • Supervise the activities of the maintenance superintendents.
  • Ensure the maintenance staff is fully qualified to perform the assigned tasks and configuration management requirements are in full compliance.
  • Oversee safety‑class and safety‑significant structures, systems, and components as defined in the nuclear facility’s Department of Energy (DOE) approved safety basis.
  • Ensure consistency among design requirements, physical configuration, and facility documentation to maintain consistency throughout the life of the facility.
  • Employ a graded approach based on guidance in DOE O 420.1C; DOE O 426.19; DOE O 424.1‑1B; and DOE O 433.1B.
  • Ensure all elements of the Nuclear Maintenance Management Program are implemented across the NNSS as applicable.
  • Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Develop usable and reliable work packages to perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and corrective maintenance (CMs), procedures, and policies that enable and encourage optimum performance of personnel and resources.
  • Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards; analyzing and resolving customer service problems; identifying trends; recommending system improvements.
  • Accomplish effective staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards to achieve related results as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 11 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
  • A minimum of two years in nuclear construction, nuclear maintenance, or nuclear operations is desired.
  • Experience working with requirements‑based systems for areas such as nuclear facility construction and maintenance, and radiological facilities.
  • Experience, skill, or training in workload distribution and execution of the work.
  • Skilled in working and communicating effectively with managers of other project functional groups, primarily Engineering, Construction, Project Management, and other services.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication.
  • Skill and ability to understand data, terminology, procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Computerized Maintenance Systems or MAXIMO desired.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
