With offices in Minden and Reno, Nevada, we serve clients with Water and Wastewater Infrastructure, Grant Opportunities, Planning, Surveying, Site Development, Hydrology/Hydraulics, Landscape Architecture, Residential Design, Water Resources, Expert Testimony, Hazard Mitigation Planning, and Roadway Maintenance & Design.

This position is 40 hours per week, based in our Minden office. It is on‑site and does not offer remote or hybrid work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Senior Engineer works with the Principal Engineer to develop design concepts incorporated in the final product by Staff Designers, Staff Engineers and Project Engineers.
  • Assists in the supervision of staff and completion of assigned projects.
  • Serves as project manager with significant autonomy for project‑related tasks and as a designated client contact.
  • Completes annual performance reviews; writes reports and prepares budgets.
  • Prepares and monitors project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely completion.
  • Attends necessary in‑house meetings or calls as needed.
  • Prepares design concepts, develops project plans and specifications.
  • Conducts design analysis, site visits/field investigations, and oversees preparation of design documents.
  • Oversees successful completion of assigned projects, assigns tasks to other engineers, interns, or technicians, and meets or corresponds with clients to obtain direction and provide feedback.
  • Communicates with Department Heads regarding job processes, status, difficulties, and administrative issues.
  • Assists in coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects, and prepares engineering agreements within the department.
  • Prepares design computations and quantity estimates, and develops construction cost estimates.
  • Attends client and public meetings — days or nights, and handles routine contract administration.
  • Controls work in process, ensures accurate client billings, and monitors outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts.
  • May direct and/or supervise the work of other engineers’ activities on projects.
  • Instructs CADD technicians to reduce designs to working drawings.
  • MAY serve as onsite project representative; visits construction sites to monitor progress and fulfill duties per the contract documents.
  • Responsible for project team quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required; registered professional engineer in the State of Nevada.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively as a supervisor and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in computer and software necessary to support job functions, including AutoCAD, HEC RAS, and other engineering programs.
  • Working knowledge of word processing applications preferred.
  • Ability to provide oral and written directions and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Attention to detail and sound judgment to identify and resolve problems.
