NDE Coordinator

Overview

Bechtel is seeking a Field Welding Engineer / NDE Coordinator for the Thacker Pass project in Nevada. The role supports the Lead Field Welding Engineer in implementing and maintaining the site welding program with a primary focus on coordination of all NDE across the project. Responsibilities include providing technical guidance to field personnel, overseeing ES&H and quality control programs, and ensuring welds are prepared for NDE per Bechtel standards.

• Salary Range: $106,800 - $162,900 annually (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.)

• Provide technical assistance to field superintendents and crafts.
• Implement the project ES&H program and quality control program.
• Oversee and maintain Project Field Welding and NDE program.
• Coordinate review of subcontractor submittals with corporate welding & NDE.
• Provide specialized welding engineering support to ensure completed welds are accessible for NDE (complete, located and flagged, clear of coatings).
• Maintain working knowledge of Bechtel's corporate welding procedures and standards.
• Coordinate and support the project NDE program.
• Knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's SWPP 4MP-T81-03701 Welding Program, 03703 Positive Material Identification, and 03705 Welding & NDE Documentation is desirable.
• Interface with field welding, unit supervisors, and NDE Subcontractors to meet quality requirements and support cost and schedule.
• Verify materials, workmanship, and specification/code requirements.
• Be aware of WITS and TEAMworks databases; knowledge of ASME, AWS, and other applicable industry standards.
• Additional:
  Welding Program, Positive Material Identification, and Welding & NDE Documentation knowledge is desirable.

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

• Construction Quality Audits – Basic
• Bechtel ES&H Program – Construction – Basic
• Microsoft Word – Basic

• Piping Design Drawings & Specifications – Working Knowledge
• TEAMWorks/WITS – Basic
• SMAW / GTAW / GMAW-STT – Intermediate
• Working knowledge of welding equipment and consumables – Intermediate
