Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). - Collaborate in design, development, characterization, and fielding of diagnostics systems on high stakes experiments conducted at U1a, located at the Nevada National Security Site.
- Work with engineers and scientists in the development and fielding of electrical, optical, and laser diagnostic data acquisition systems.
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, delay generators, spectrum analyzers, fiber optic inspection and cleaning equipment, optical time domain reflectometers, scientific cameras, etc.
- Assist in compiling system documentation, supporting and researching data acquisition capabilities, and analyzing technical data.
- Participate as a contributing team member on specific event diagnostics, as skills and experience permit.
- Adapt to diverse and dynamic field environments.
- Perform basic electronic and optical work, including fiber optics.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, graphs, proposals, studies, and correspondence. Assist in preliminary engineering analysis, conceptual design, and engineering calculations.
- Perform drafting assignments, revise prints, and prepare sketches.
- Work within established work controls and safety standards for electrical and laser work when operating or testing equipment.
- Perform other duties assigned by Management.
- Associate degree in a field related to the position plus at least 3 years' progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 5 years' progressive related experience.
- Experience with electrical components, circuitry, hand-wiring circuit boards, soldering, AC/DC electronics, basic hand tools, electronic test and measurement equipment, and basic electronic troubleshooting.
- Ability to work underground.
- Ability to work well with others and interact with team members, other teams, and outside organizations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Planning/organizing skills and initiative, capable of employing independent judgment to ensure that requirements are completed efficiently and on time.
- Ability to effectively deal with pressures of deadlines and multiple tasks.
- Experience working in a team environment that includes scientists, engineers, technicians, and designers.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision in a dynamic multidisciplinary project environment with simultaneous commitments to performance, cost, and schedule.
- Experience using standard office software products.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work independently, and work as part of a team.
- Ability to execute work in a disciplined manner to demonstrate compliance with laws, codes, orders, and MSTS policies and procedures.
- Primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada) and occasionally the North Las Vegas Facility. Occasional travel required.
