Job Title:

Field Engineer – Thacker Pass Lithium Project

The Thacker Pass project is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. The mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States, enough to power more than 1 million electric vehicles per year. Bechtel, as the EPCM contractor, will manage engineering, procurement, and construction of the facility.

In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

• Specialization & Expertise
  • Provides high level knowledge and expertise in high voltage electrical discipline for construction.
  • Provides expert technical consultation support to projects.
• Work Planning & Packaging
  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules, and designs temporary construction facilities, ensuring preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.
• Material Management
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
• Quantities
  • Oversees the verification of commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
• Safety / Quality Control
  • Ensures the zero accident philosophy and that safety requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others in the operational area; ensures tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
• Technical
  • Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
• STR / Subcontract Coordinator
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans.

Bachelor's or Master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13‑15 years of relevant experience, or 17‑19 years of relevant work experience.

• Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft preferred.
• Contract management experience.
• Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures.
• Experience in mining and metals preferable.
• Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including Info Works, TEAMWorks, BPS, PTR, eSub and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects is an asset.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving ability.
