Performs basic work supporting a wide variety of technical, complex or specialized operations of the Assessor’s Office; processing and performing data entry of moderately complex documents, and providing information to the public; performing related tasks as apparent or assigned.

Essential Functions Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Assists general public, customers and staff in person, over telephone and by email; answers inquiries, provides general direction related to plan reviews and inspections, receives and attempts to resolve complaints, explains policies, procedures and proper use/completion of department forms.
- Manages databases and/or spreadsheet files and develops special report formats.
- Researches and assembles information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms or the preparation of reports; makes arithmetic or statistical calculations.
- Processes complex documents requiring the use of independent analysis and judgment, assuring completeness and accuracy; maintains records, and conducts data entry of certain records; assists with the data entry for real property Appraisers into the appraisal database; maintains both statistical and non-statistical records and compiles regular reports.
- Receives, processes and explains various tax exemption and rebate programs to the public; answers complex and difficult inquiries from the public or other departments regarding parcels of land and County policies and procedures related to assessments; interprets property deeds and explains property maps to the general public.
- Provides support to Appraisers; copies for property maps as requested; prepares a variety of general correspondence, legal documents, special reports, and instructions; maintains and monitors files, follows up on due dates, and performs other monitoring functions to ensure timely completion of work; performs a variety of other clerical duties including copying and assembling materials, collecting and distributing mail, answering phones, and other related tasks.
- Organizes, maintains and purges various departmental files.
- Proofreads and checks materials for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with departmental policies and regulations.
- Enters and retrieves data and prepares reports using a variety of software programs; reviews such reports for accuracy and makes corrections as required; operates standard office equipment.
- May train and direct the work of temporary staff for special projects or programs.
- Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
- Contributes effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Position requires a High School diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience with general administrative support; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Working Conditions- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force.
- Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions; frequently requires sitting and kneeling or crawling; occasionally requires standing and walking.
- Work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts and use of measuring devices.
- Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
- Work has no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
