As our R&D Assistant (LAC), in addition to supporting various research projects, you will also be responsible for the operational activities and organization of the laboratory. You identify gaps in current work processes and procedures and make suggestions for further improvements.
You work on new as well as existing products and raw materials. You carry out a wide range of physical, chemical, analytical and performance tests, while collecting and reporting results. You do so in an effective and timely manner, prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
You are responsible for the incoming control of research samples, ordering chemicals and consumables as well as equipment maintenance and calibration. You troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and systems for emergency repairs and carry out preventive maintenance inspections. It is important to balance lab organization and maintenance needs with the project workload while promoting a safe work environment and avoiding downtime.
You will be doing hands-on research in the lab for about 80-90 % of your time.
The team
The R&D team you will join is fairly small and consists of seven colleagues. It is a multicultural team and the working language is English. In this position you work closely with your colleagues and report directly to the line manager.
If you enjoy working in the lab and are passionate about research this is the perfect job for you. In addition to your work as a Lab Technician, you will also have the opportunity to participate in simple projects such as the initial screening of new materials.
And in the future, there is also the possibility of advancing to the position of Product Development Chemist.

Someone who is also willing to take on small projects from the Product Development Chemists.

You demonstrate good time management and focus on results without compromising quality. You enjoy working in the lab, being part of a small team and contribute constructively to discussions.
What else do you bring:
- Technical education or equivalent degree (Bachelor or Master) in the field of chemistry, tribology and/or material sciences;
- Hands-on experience in a lab;
- Hands-on experience with physical, chemical, analytical and performance tests in a lab environment in beneficial;
- Proficiency in English, both written and oral is essential; knowledge of the Dutch language is beneficial.
