Probation and Parole Officer District 9 Satellite

- Investigate offenders’ home/work/social environments for circuit courts/Parole Board; collect, verify, and evaluate data; incorporate into reports and records; assess needs/risk levels to determine appropriate supervision strategies to ensure effective offender management/public safety; submit reports to designated legal authorities.
- Contact offenders in their homes, places of employment, or confinement and counsel them regarding personal/adjustment problems; attend court to receive court assignments and make reports.
- Assist in vocational/educational/social adjustment planning for assigned offenders; cooperate with public/private agencies and law enforcement; investigate offender violations; take appropriate action including issuance of warrants.
- Prepare statistical reports of activities; administer/observe breathalyzer/urinalysis testing; assist in special investigations/research projects/other activities; serve on committees/task forces within the Department and community; perform other related work as assigned; as the employee becomes more experienced/demonstrates proficiency, levels of supervision become more general.
- Possess a valid vehicle operator’s license.
- Complete safety training including defensive tactics and re‑qualify annually.
- Four or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant or above within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
- Or four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework/custody, law enforcement, guidance/counseling, mental health, health, substance use, public/business administration, or experience closely related to the listed responsibilities; and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
- (Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)
