As a Market Placement Advisor, you'll shape agency strategy through market insight, support profitable growth plans, and identify new opportunities that strengthen competitive positioning. What You'll Do:
Strategic Market Leadership & Agency Management
- Provide market insight and contribute to the agency's strategic planning process, focusing on profitable growth and market positioning.
- Monitor and implement applicable agency business plans to ensure the meeting of agency goals for profitability and growth.
- Locate, research, and develop marketplace opportunities, forming affiliations with new markets and creating alternative markets as business demands require.
- Develop and produce sales and marketing materials, and initiate and manage internal advertising activities in coordination with leadership.
- Maintain long-term, high-quality relationships with insurance carriers, which results in increased support and provides access to high-quality products.
- Coordinate with the sales manager on the placement of new business to maximize contingency income while ensuring strict compliance with all carrier contracts.
- Oversee the use of excess, surplus market placement, and manage key relationships with wholesale brokers.
- Seek out additional new markets and plan collaborative sales campaigns with carriers to increase sales effectiveness and agency profitability.
- Assist in creating and monitoring a marketing process that results in aggressive cross-selling and rounding out the book of business.
- Manage the placement process for commercial lines, offering direct involvement on the placement of key new and renewal "A" type accounts with account executives.
- Gather and review all necessary documentation to prepare high-quality, detailed submissions for insurance carriers.
- Lead the negotiation of favorable terms, pricing, and coverage proposals with underwriters.
- Evaluate carrier quotes for competitiveness and provide detailed comparisons and recommendations to account teams.
- Collaborate directly with account teams to develop placement strategies that support optimal client protection and retention.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all placement activities in the agency management system.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in the insurance industry.
- A minimum of 3-5 years in a market-facing, carrier relations, brokerage placement, or underwriting leadership role is essential.
- Deep knowledge of commercial insurance products, coverage forms, excess & surplus (E&S) lines, and carrier risk appetites.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial and personal lines insurance products and markets, coupled with strong analytical capabilities.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
