Overview
Theda Care, Wisconsin's largest non-profit healthcare system, is seeking an Inpatient Urology NP/PA to join our Urology group in the Fox Valley.
Responsibilities- Join an established practice with a collegial team of 7 physicians and 7 APPs.
- Location:
Neenah Theda Care Regional Hospital and Appleton Theda Care Regional Hospital, with time split between both locations. - Full-time schedule: 36 patient contact hours per week; 5 day work week, with consideration for (4) 10-hour days.
- Call: 1 in 8, rotating weekends and holidays with the Urology APC team.
- EPIC EMR is used throughout the health system.
Serve as the primary APP for inpatient urology, managing consults, admissions, rounding, and discharges in coordination with supervising physicians.
Respond promptly to urgent and emergent urology consults from the ED, inpatient units, and ICU.
Perform comprehensive assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and initiate evidence-based treatment plans.
Collaborate with supervising urologists on care plans for conditions such as obstruction, infection, hematuria, urinary retention, trauma, and postoperative complications.
Perform or assist with bedside procedures as credentialed (e.g., catheter placement, bladder irrigation, suprapubic catheter changes, wound assessments).
Coordinate pre- and post-operative care, including assessments, rounding, and discharge planning.
Communicate effectively with hospital teams, nursing staff, and case management to ensure coordinated care.
Participate in daily rounds, handoffs, and consult team meetings.
Document in the EMR per hospital, regulatory, and billing standards.
Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
Support quality improvement and protocol development initiatives within the urology service.
- Education:
- Masters or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program.
- Licensure & Certification:
- Active NP or PA licensure in the state of Wisconsin.
- National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA).
- BLS certification required.
- DEA registration.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in surgical, inpatient, or emergency care preferred.
- Urology experience highly desirable; new grads with strong surgical or inpatient rotations will be considered.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage high-acuity situations.
- Ability to work independently and respond efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team-based collaboration.
- Proficient in EMR use and clinical documentation.
