Lead Service Technician – Food Equipment

The Workers of WI is a trusted leader in food equipment distribution, proudly serving the Midwest for over 60 years. We’re expanding our team and seeking a Lead Service Technician a seasoned professional with advanced technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for customer service.
This is more than a repair role. As Lead Tech, you’ll be the go-to expert for complex diagnostics, mentor junior technicians, manage inventory and dispatch, and help shape the service experience our customers rely on.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support service operations both onsite and in-house.
- Diagnose and repair a wide range of food processing and packaging equipment, including retail scales and wrappers.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams with precision.
- Rewire equipment based on schematics and diagrams.
- Program digital scales and other equipment using advanced computer software.
- Troubleshoot AC/DC motors and motor control circuits.
- Disassemble and rebuild gearboxes, pumps, and other mechanical components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workshop and service vehicle.
- Provide expert technical support and training to customers and team members.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Assist with dispatch board management and support other technicians with troubleshooting and parts issues.
- Uphold safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Train and motivate junior technicians, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Stay calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Demonstrate integrity, respect, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Proven experience in electrical, mechanical, and electronic troubleshooting.
- Deep understanding of schematics, wiring diagrams, and motor control systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and repair skills.
- High-level critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in IT and networking (routers, LANs, wireless access points).
- Advanced computer skills for equipment programming and diagnostics.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Customer-first mindset with a professional, respectful demeanor.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends as needed.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- 3+ years of food equipment service experience or similar technical field.
- Accredited HS Diploma/GED and 2–4 years of relevant experience.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience training or mentoring technicians is a plus.
- Kneel, squat, bend, push/pull as needed.
- Work in varied conditions (heat, cold, wet, noisy environments).
- Available for overtime
