Summary

The Senior Licensing Specialist is a key team member who understands sales systems and processes as they relate to licensing, appointments, commissions and compliance. The Senior Licensing Specialist plays a lead role in the evaluation of Jewelers Mutual’s current licensing systems and processes to ensure current needs are met and to identify future needs. This role has key knowledge and input in the strategic direction of our licensing, appointment, and compliance processes.

In addition, this person will assist Sales and Finance in the management of all agent/broker/strategic partner compensation programs, schedules and records.

What You’ll Do
  • Assess all facets of the licensing and appointment processes, systems integration, commissions, and ancillary pay plans within the Jewelers Mutual Group, including JM’s in‑house agency, JM Insurance Services, LLC, and make recommendations for changes based on research and experience.
  • Own administration, changes, and updates to the commissions and ancillary pay plans, working in concert with appropriate product and sales areas, and Finance.
  • Relentlessly find ways to fix problems and expedite transactions with as little friction as possible.
  • Build strong relationships within Legal, Sales, Finance, IT and other relevant areas, including especially JM Insurance Services.
  • Accountable for day‑to‑day operations of the Licensing team.
  • Lead and mentor JM team members in the licensing process and methodologies.
  • Manage and prepare communication with business partners regarding Licensing and potential new business models.
  • Participate in and serve as a main point of contact for any audit proceedings.
  • Accountable for maintaining accurate records of all entity licenses, registrations, or other authorizations to do business held by the company and its affiliates.
  • Accountable for maintaining accurate records of all work‑related licenses, as well as continuing education requirements, of company employees (producer, adjuster, and any other required individual licenses).
  • Must have superb attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both in managing teams and independently.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to make effective decisions.
  • Excellent conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities for improvement and proposes solutions to impacted areas and processes.
  • Keeps stakeholders informed of problems, issues, and resolutions.

What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree from a four‑year university preferred; equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements.
  • 5-7 years of increasingly responsible experience in property/casualty licensing and appointment administration.
  • Experience in agency mergers and acquisitions preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of multiple licensing models.
