Summary: Oversee the milieu operations of Ain House, Walker’s ITR/STR program located on the Needham Campus. Provide direct oversight, hiring and training of direct care staff and supervisors. Oversee the behavior support system and ensure programming is consistent with the needs of the youth served. Oversee Medication Administration Program (MAP) medications. Provide a safe environment for staff, youth and their families.

Communicate effectively with program and campus leadership. Responsible for decision‑making in crisis situations, multi‑tasking and must have the ability to utilize behavior management and crisis intervention techniques as needed as prescribed by Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI). Other duties as assigned.

Education & Licensure

Required: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in related field

Experience

Required: Supervisory experience in a residential setting. Strong skills in behavior management. Ability to train and mentor direct care staff. Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors and managers.
Preferred: Background in utilizing TCI, training as a TCI trainer.

Abilities

Required: Ability to be flexible and work collaboratively. Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and safely. Ability to work in a stressful and fast‑paced environment. Must understand child development, and the impact of emotional, behavioral, and learning disabilities. Must understand issues of confidentiality. Must be receptive to supervision and professional development. Ability to meet deadlines and follow through with multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to respond and follow through with requests professionally. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to access different building locations, equipment, mailboxes, etc. Must have ability to lift packages up to 10 pounds. Job may require bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting. Job requires the ability to perform therapeutic physical intervention as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Plan, direct and oversee milieu activities within the program. Ensure the ITR/STR program offers engaging, developmentally appropriate structured activities to the youth being served.
  • Provide direct supervision to the Direct Care Supervisors for the ITR/STR program, ensuring supervisors provide bi‑weekly direct supervision to residential and overnight shift direct care staff.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintain the program’s licensing standards at all times.
  • Achieve and maintain TCI Trainer certification.
  • Work with direct care staff and supervisors to increase and maintain the use of TCI philosophy and language, including early intervention and de‑escalation techniques, in day‑to‑day program operations. Coach staff to improve their TCI skills as needed.
  • Conduct interviews for direct care staff and supervisors and make hiring decisions for the program; ensure thorough onboarding of newly hired staff and supervisors.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day staffing for the program and time‑off requests in collaboration with the Campus Scheduling Supervisor and managers and supervisors across the campus.
  • Maintain MAP certification. Ensure all direct care staff and supervisors assigned to the program participate in MAP training. Oversee schedules for MAP medications and work with program leadership, clinicians, and prescribers to maintain a high‑quality medication program.
  • Participate in reviewing critical incident reports, working with staff and supervisors to ensure reports are written and approved within expected time frames.
  • Collaborate with program leadership and clinicians on room assignments and admission decisions.
  • Oversee payroll for program direct care staff and supervisors.
  • Attend meetings and represent the program and agency at internal and external meetings as needed.
  • Provide administrative on‑call coverage for the campus on a rotating basis.
  • Must have a valid MA driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Be an ambassador of Walker and consistently role model Walker’s professional culture.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Received: Bi‑weekly supervision by ITR/STR Program Director
Exercised: Bi‑weekly supervision of ITR/STR Direct Care supervisors and other direct care staff as assigned.
