Material Handler
Summary
The Nederland Inventory Coordinator position manages inventory materials at the Nederland Warehouse facility as well as assisting with the management of inventory materials at various remote warehouse locations across multiple counties. The position is responsible for maintaining the operational spare parts levels at these locations. This requires dealing directly with Operations personnel and vendors to coordinate repairs to repairable parts and requisitioning new parts when repairing a part is not an option.
The position manages capital project materials staging, tasks associated with logistics and provides shipping, receiving and expediting support to Procurement and Engineering staff as required. Evaluates incoming and outgoing materials, validates related material documentation (MTRs, cert, etc.) and builds supporting documentation files.
- Lists duties and responsibilities in rank of importance or time spent doing each job duty. Must constitute at least 5% of an incumbent’s time.
- Following all Safety Procedures and working in a safe manner at all times.
- Coordinating with Operations and Procurement to ensure Materials Management Guidelines are adhered to by all involved.
- Works with Procurement and Logistics to resolve shipping discrepancies and damages as they occur.
- Works with Operations and Procurement to provide suitable replacement materials in emergency situations.
- Analyzing of surplus inventory to determine usage levels and conditions.
- Submitting material form for processing.
- Generating inventory requisitions into SAP-MM.
- On-call support for after‑hours call outs.
- Prepare surplus material for long‑term storage.
- Assists with providing information needed for budget preparations on an annual basis.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2 years of related experience.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multi‑task and handle changing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and communications skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Usually, normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
